Aimee Jayne Rathergood from Bournemouth Arts Institute held a silent art auction to raise awareness about the crisis in Darfur. Students donated their Darfur inspired art to Doodles4Darfur, which raised a massive £700 for Fund4Darfur.
Aimee wrote on the event,
“It is crucial for us as creative individuals to not only have a political and cultural conscience, but a social conscience as well. We have an advantage as artists to bring a fresh and creative voice to causes of this nature, and often, our voice can be the most effective."
Aegis Students from the Mount School in Yorkshire organised a Meal4Darfur as part of this year’s Yorkshire Food Festival. Serving up delicious Sudanese cuisine to their friends and families, the students gave a presentation on the current food crisis in camps in Darfur and Chad. They sold Rwandan jewellery at the event as well as the meal itself and raised over £1000 to help support Fund4Darfur’s stoves project.
