Discover Rwanda

Join Aegis Students on a life changing journey this summer by participating in our annual educational, study and volunteering trip to experience Rwanda, the “Land of a Thousand Hills”. Discover Rwanda is a 3 week long trip organised by Aegis Students to provide young people and students with the opportunity to visit Rwanda. Discover Rwanda is packed full of activities with a focus on learning about the genocide which tore Rwanda apart in 1994, meeting the survivors and engaging in activities to confront its legacy and understand what we can do to help prevent it occurring again. Discover Rwanda provides unique insights and opportunities for anyone studying or conducting research about the genocide in Rwanda. Past participants comments.

Discover Rwanda includes flights (return to Rwanda from the UK), accommodation, transport in Rwanda, food, activities & seminars (including Aegis Students’ International Conference held annually in Kigali), safari, pre-trip preparatory seminar, information and resources pack. The Discover Rwanda team will also assist you in developing a personal project plan so you can contribute and use your skills within the volunteering section of the trip.

The Ministry of Culture and Sport in Rwanda supports the Disscover Rwanda trips which Aegis organises to enable students and teachers from around the world to visit Rwanda, learn about the genocide and discover our beautiful country and culture in Rwanda – ‘The Land of A Thousand Hills’. I hope you will take the opportunity to participate in Discover Rwanda and become an ambassador for Rwanda in the fight against genocide, when you return home.

Joseph Habineza - Minister for Culture and Sports in Rwanda

“I think the whole trip was an amazing experience and really helped to develop my understanding of what occurred in Rwanda…really made me feel so passionately about returning home and really working hard to raise more awareness about the Genocide”
