TEACHING ENGLISH TO DARFURIS

Teach-English1Imagine escaping some of the worst crimes against humanity only to be refused asylum or be placed on a never ending waiting list?

Imagine trying to find a place to eat or sleep in one of the biggest, most expensive cities in the world with almost no funds.

Imagine trying to navigate your way through the expansive London Underground, rent a property or find work, when you barely speak English.

There are hundreds of Darfuri refugees and asylum seekers living in the UK who face this reality everyday.

Aegis Students is looking for capable and dedicated university students to Teach English as a Second Language to our Darfuri friends.

Volunteers will undergo complimentary training and be certified to teach English as a second language. What’s more – you’ll be giving a Darfuri survivor the tools they need to find a better life.

This programme is currently suspended. However if you are interested in participaing in the future, please email us at volunteering@aegisstudents.organd we will get back to you when the programme restarts.
