RWANDA FUNDRAISING AND EVENTS OFFICER
ariane.kankindi@aegisstudents.org
A survivor of the 1994 Rwandan genocide – Ariane dedicates everyday to fighting against genocide and mass atrocities.
Having led a team of volunteers during the Candles for Rwanda candle lighting ceremony, commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide, worked as Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator for the Rwandan youth movement, Peace and Love Proclaimers and been the Vice-President of ROTA (Rwanda Open Talent Association) – Ariane comes to Aegis Students Rwanda ready to share her fresh ideas and varied experience.
In her downtime Ariane indulges her creative side. She has coordinated a group of Rwandese artists through Chez Venant & Yamaha, performs traditional Rwandese dancing, is a member of her school’s Drama Club and works with the Heaven’s Friends Ministry to encourage young people to build and showcase their own creative talents. Ariane is even a bit of a local celebrity – she placed in the top 5 at the Miss Kigali 2007 contest!
Ariane lives by her dream of supporting survivors of conflict and genocide in Rwanda and the rest of the world, but most of all she strives to fight against the ideology that perpetrates genocide. Ariane wants to make the world a better place so that we no longer need to simply say, “Never Again” – we can actually make it a reality.
